WSOP 2013 Seven Card Stud Event #23 won by David Chiu

After three days of intense poker, David Chiu was the winner of WSOP 2013 Seven Card Stud Event #23. David won his fifth gold bracelet and the $145,520 first prize. This event was the only Seven Card Stud event of the tournament and 246 players came and battled for the Stud Championship.
At the final table of eight, Adam Friedman and Matthew Ashton were the first one to go and Gary Benson followed them. The 2010 player of the year Frank Kassela finished 5th and Michael Mizrachi who has three bracelets got eliminated in 4th place. Freddy Ellis who won the 2009 event couldn’t make it to the final two and ended up third.
In heads-up battle David Chiu and Scott Seiver battled for the championship. It was a battle between youth vs experience and the chip lead changed sides a lot of times. Finally on the last hand of the event and the 6th street Seiver raised all in and Chiu made the call. Chiu got lucky on the 7th street and the 10 gave him two pairs, Jacks and Tens that were bigger that Scott’s and left him with the 2nd place.
Chiu is now in a club of five-time bracelets that includes Daniel Negreanu, John Juanda, Jeffrey Lisandro and Stu Unger.
